I must say I’ve REALLY been enjoying embroidering and embellishing MCN woollies of late. In particular, my latest projects have been two soakers, one that sold through Ozebaby and one that was a custom order.
I really wouldn’t know what name to put to the embroidery stitches (other than the lazy daisy stitch) as they have evolved as I completed the projects. I am SO happy with the finished products and plan to do many many more!
First of all, this was a recently completed custom order of a small/medium soaker with lamb embroidery and embellishment. As I embroidered the sheep took on their own personalities. I had no real plans for what they’d be “doing” (other than standing in the grass!) but as I embroidered and created them it just all came together and resulted in this:
(Even though the cord isn’t in the photos, the soaker has a flat waist band and the finished product has an i-cord tie inserted into the waist band casing).

Secondly, this soaker below really appealed to my girly love of all things pink. I have a subscription to The Three Irish Girls Stash Menagerie Yarn Club (*drool* is an understatement). I received some beautiful “Lindon Merino” for the November instalment and just KNEW that it would make the perfect soaker. The Lindon Merino is a really strong and sturdy Aran/Worsted (approximately 10-12ply) yarn. Despite it robustness and strength, it beautifully soft.
For a while now I’ve wanted to embroider something with cherry blossoms. What a perfect opportunity with the Lindon Merino! Again, the embroidery and design (whilst based around an image of a cherry blossom branch) evolved of it’s own accord as I worked on it
This soaker has now gone on to a loving home via my Ozebaby store
