As cute as a cuddly possum may be, they now inhabit all areas of the New Zealand native forest where they cause extensive damage. Possums were introduced one hundred and fifty years ago to provide the basis of a New Zealand fur industry and declared a national pest in 1936.
Purchasing yarns that are made from a mixture of possum fur and other fibres is the same as taking one step closer to preserving the New Zealand native forest.
At Knitspirations, I’m thrilled to offer some exciting new one of a kind colourways on a base of Possum and Merino, otherwise known as “possmerino”. All of my possmerino is of an Aranto light worsted weight (10-12ply). The yarn is lofty, soft and almost feels silky to the touch. It would be perfect for next to skin wear and MCN knitting.
I won’t be offering any more possmerino colourways in the near future so get in quick to avoid disappointment!
